Lion or Octopus: what the numbers say
Lion and Octopus are both Epic star animals, but Lion runs 2-hour activities and Octopus 4-hour ones, each doing 4 activities before a 24-hour sleep. Finishing an activity early costs 1,000 coins with Lion and 1,800 with Octopus. Per 30 minutes of activity at level 7, Lion is ahead on both tournament stars (15 against 12.5) and heart gems (131.2 against 100). Lion goes on to level 10, where it reaches 564 heart gems and 66 tournament stars per activity, a level Octopus cannot reach. Collected on time and counting the sleep, a level 10 Lion makes about 198 tournament stars and 1,692 heart gems a day, against 240 and 1,920 for a level 7 Octopus, so per day Octopus comes out ahead on both. For tournament value, Lion costs 16.67 coins per star and Octopus 18, which ranks them 2nd and 3rd of the 16 star animals. Lion hatches from the Green Egg, while Octopus is a token-hatched event pet.
