Wordscapes x Freecash Rewards: Should You Link Your Account?

The Freecash Rewards feature in Wordscapes is an official, optional partnership. PeopleFun confirms that players can connect their account, receive a one-time in-game reward and then earn Freecash rewards for playing Wordscapes. The rollout popup advertises 300 Wordscapes coins for linking and up to $20 on Freecash for playing games. Those are two separate rewards with different conditions, and the second one is paid by a company that was removed from both app stores this spring before being reinstated. This guide gathers everything I could verify so you can decide whether to link, and how to link without losing what you earn.

Before you link: 300 coins are not $300, and linking does not pay you $20 by itself. Read the offer attached to your own account, with its milestones and deadlines. Freecash allows one account per person and per household, forbids VPNs, and asks for an ID document and a selfie before your first cash withdrawal, which also needs a regional minimum of $5 to $20.

How this guide was reported: I checked PeopleFun’s help page, Freecash’s terms, privacy policy and help center, Almedia’s press releases, the January to June 2026 press coverage and player reports. The screenshot is player-supplied. This article does not include a hands-on test of a completed Wordscapes-linked cash withdrawal. No link in this guide contains a Freecash referral code, and nobody at PeopleFun, Almedia or Freecash was involved in writing it.

Is the Wordscapes Freecash feature legit?

Yes, the partnership is confirmed by PeopleFun. Its official support page identifies Freecash as a rewards platform from its partner Almedia, explains why it appears on the Wordscapes home screen, and says you can keep playing Wordscapes without connecting to it.

That settles whether PeopleFun intentionally added the feature. It does not settle whether you, personally, will earn and successfully withdraw money: that depends on the offer shown to your account, your eligibility, tracking and Freecash’s redemption rules. An official partnership is not a guarantee that every advertised amount is attainable for you.

The technology behind the feature is very probably Almedia’s Link product. In its August 12, 2026 announcement of the Link SDK, Almedia describes exactly what Wordscapes players see: an entry point inside a game they already play, a Freecash account connection, an immediate in-game reward granted by the game once the link is confirmed, and Freecash rewards for milestones reached in that game. Almedia says Link is live in more than 210 games from over 40 publishers, and that the publisher is paid for every verified link. PeopleFun has not named Link, so I keep that as a strong match rather than a confirmed fact. The short answer: link, wait or skip?

Link now if you are 16 or older, nobody else in your household uses Freecash, you never play through a VPN or iCloud Private Relay, you play Wordscapes on one main device, you accept an ID and selfie check before any cash withdrawal, and you are fine with the 300 coins being the only sure thing.

Wait if you want to see the milestone list and the amounts first (nobody has published them yet), you share a home with someone who already has a Freecash account, you play on a phone and a tablet, or you would rather see another Wordscapes player report a completed cashout before you commit. PeopleFun says the option may come back later if the reminder disappears.

Skip it if you do not want another company holding a copy of your ID document and a record of your play, if the device belongs to a child, or if you would have to change how you play (rush levels, buy coins, install other games) to earn anything beyond the linking bonus.

What do the 300 coins and “up to $20” actually mean?

The promotion captured in a player’s v3.13.40 report on r/wordscapes shows the advertised amounts, but no milestone list, deadline or completed cashout. Your offer may differ.

Can you earn by playing Wordscapes itself?

PeopleFun’s FAQ says that after linking you can earn Freecash rewards by playing Wordscapes. The popup uses the broader wording “for playing games”. Almedia’s Link SDK description explains the difference: an in-game screen keeps your Freecash tasks and progress for the game you already play, and an optional “Offers” section lets you discover other games, with the publisher earning more when you reach a milestone in one of them. So “playing games” can mean Wordscapes milestones, other games, or both. Only the offer attached to your account tells you which.

Keep the scale in mind. On Freecash, headline amounts usually sit behind deep targets with deadlines. Coverage of the January ads documented a Monopoly Go offer that paid one cent for two minutes of daily play and $123 for reaching level 300 within three months. Recent Google Play reviews of Wordscapes Search, a sister PeopleFun title, describe a rewards-platform target of 5,000 puzzles within a time limit and progress that failed to track. Those are other games and other offers, but they show the pattern: small money for small tasks, and the big number reserved for targets most casual players will not reach.

Check your own Wordscapes offer before changing how you play. Save the milestone list, reward amounts, starting conditions and any deadline. Check whether tasks involve purchases or other games. Nothing published so far says whether levels you completed before linking count.

Who can use it, and why is the Rewards icon missing?

Player reports associate the feature with Wordscapes version 3.13.40. PeopleFun describes a gradual rollout in supported countries and on certain platforms, without a public list of eligible countries, devices or accounts. Almedia’s SDK announcement adds that eligibility, country availability and user state are decided by Almedia’s backend, which is consistent with two players on the same version seeing different things. Updating your game does not guarantee that the icon will appear, and there is no verified activation trick.

The popup says 16+. Freecash’s terms of service, checked September 8, 2026, also require users to be at least 16 and legally able to enter a binding contract, and limit participation to one account per person and one account per household. Freecash’s help center repeats that the household rule has no exceptions, so a couple or a family cannot each link their own Wordscapes account from the same home without breaking the rule. If someone in your household already uses Freecash, ask Freecash support before registering, not after.

Can existing Wordscapes players or Freecash members join?

The in-game feature offers account linking, and PeopleFun describes both signup and login on the Freecash screen. If you already have a Freecash account, use the login option and check the offer attached to that account. Do not open a second Freecash account to “start fresh”: Freecash treats a new account, even after deleting the old one, as a violation.

The reverse case matters too. Freecash’s general rule for install offers is that games you have previously installed on any device do not track and are not rewarded. The in-game link is the path built for existing players; a separate “install Wordscapes” offer found in the Freecash app is not, and taking it when the game is already on your phone is the classic way to earn nothing.

Do’s and don’ts before you tap “Link your account”

Every rule below comes from Freecash’s own terms and help center, or from PeopleFun’s FAQ. Freecash’s stated approach is to pause cashouts first when it suspects a problem, then to restrict the account permanently for repeat or serious violations; a permanent restriction cannot be appealed, and the balance is forfeited.

Do

  • Read the offer attached to your account before you link, and screenshot the milestones, amounts and deadlines.
  • Link from the device you actually play on, and keep playing on that device: Freecash’s tracking rules say to use the same device from start to finish.
  • Sign up with your real name, date of birth and country. Verification compares them with your ID before the first withdrawal.
  • Use a dedicated email address for the Freecash account if you want to limit marketing mail, a tip Malwarebytes gives about this kind of platform.
  • Turn off any VPN and, on Apple devices, iCloud Private Relay whenever Freecash or the linked game is open.
  • Withdraw early: as soon as you cross the first threshold, cash out a small amount to PayPal or a gift card. It proves the flow works for you, and most published complaints involve large balances frozen at the first cashout.
  • Keep records: the offer terms, your progress, the credited rewards and the withdrawal confirmation.
  • Check how your country taxes small online rewards if you plan to go beyond pocket money. Freecash’s terms leave any tax liability to you.

Don’t

  • Don’t link if someone in your household already has a Freecash account, and don’t link several family members’ Wordscapes accounts from one home: one account per person and per household, no exceptions.
  • Don’t link from every device you own. One Wordscapes account, one Freecash account, one device. Multiple accounts are a stated reason for permanent restriction.
  • Don’t create a new Freecash account after deleting an old one, and don’t “borrow” a relative’s account.
  • Don’t use Freecash from a country other than the one on your profile, even on holiday; Freecash says that is against its terms, and its help center has a separate page for people who live near a border.
  • Don’t take a separate “install Wordscapes” offer inside the Freecash app: previously installed games do not track.
  • Don’t run an ad blocker or switch off tracking permissions while chasing milestones. Freecash’s tracking guide asks for ad personalization on Android and “Allow Apps to Request to Track” on iOS. Whether the Wordscapes link needs them is undocumented; if it does, that is a privacy trade-off, not a technicality.
  • Don’t buy coins or rush levels to hit a tier unless the reward still makes sense after the 5% PayPal fee, the deadline and your time. Don’t uninstall Wordscapes while an offer is running.
  • Don’t type a referral or promo code from a video or a “free money” site into the account you link from Wordscapes. The in-game link needs no code, and Freecash’s affiliate program pays the person who shared the code when you complete offers and withdraw.
  • Don’t dispute a card payment tied to an offer. Chargebacks are on Freecash’s list of reasons for a final restriction.
  • Don’t post account IDs, email addresses, ID documents or payment details in public comments when you ask for help.
  • Don’t link from a child’s device. The feature is 16+, and the first withdrawal requires an adult-style identity check.
  1. Open the Rewards feature inside Wordscapes. Read the promotion displayed to you; the captured popup uses an “Unlock Rewards!” button.
  2. Follow the account-linking prompt. PeopleFun describes a “Link your account” action that opens Freecash’s own signup or login screen.
  3. Read the terms and complete the connection if you choose to participate. Use your existing Freecash account when you have one.
  4. Return to Wordscapes. Once the connection is confirmed, PeopleFun says the one-time in-game reward is delivered automatically. Confirmation can be delayed.
  5. Inspect your Freecash offer before pursuing cash rewards. Record the tasks, deadlines and cashout conditions separately from the coin bonus.

This sequence follows PeopleFun’s published instructions. Button labels and screens can differ during the rollout.

How do you cash out? Minimums, ID checks and PayPal fees

Freecash handles cash rewards and withdrawals. PeopleFun handles the Wordscapes side of the connection and its in-game reward. You do not cash out your Wordscapes coin balance through this feature.

Paused versus restricted Freecash says it usually pauses cashouts first when it suspects a rule violation and lets the account owner explain; you can still log in. A permanent restriction means you can no longer log in, it cannot be appealed, and the balance is forfeited.
Taxes Freecash’s terms say you are responsible for any tax liability on rewards you accrue or redeem, whatever your country’s treatment is.

Check the methods, amounts, fees and any hold shown in your own Cashout screen. The list also includes crypto destinations and a crypto platform that carries real financial risk; PayPal and gift cards are the plain options. Offer validation and withdrawal processing are separate steps, and none of these rules says how quickly a Wordscapes milestone becomes withdrawable.

What happened to Freecash in spring 2026

If you are the cautious type, this is the part to read twice. The company that pays the cash side of this feature was pulled from both app stores five months before it appeared in Wordscapes. Everything below is dated and sourced.

  • January 2026 Freecash climbs to No. 2 on the US App Store on the back of TikTok ads promising up to $35 an hour just for scrolling. Wired reports that the ads are misleading; TikTok removes some of them for financial misrepresentation. On January 26, Malwarebytes publishes its analysis of the Freecash ads, describing the bait-and-switch into time-limited game challenges and warning that Freecash’s privacy policy at the time allowed automatic collection of highly sensitive categories, including race, religion, sex life, sexual orientation, health and biometrics. Freecash answers that the worst ads came from third-party affiliates.
  • April 13 to 15, 2026 After being contacted by TechCrunch for its investigation, Apple removes Freecash from the App Store, citing its guidelines on misleading marketing and bait-and-switch tactics; Google removes it from the Play Store on April 15. TechCrunch also documents that Freecash had re-entered both stores under different developer accounts after earlier removals in 2024, and questions how reliable its 4.7-star rating was. Almedia denies deceptive marketing and says its apps are compliant.
  • April 28, 2026 Almedia’s statement is added to the Malwarebytes article: the company says it identified an affiliate breaching its policies and removed it from its network, and that it does not sell user data.
  • May 7, 2026 Almedia announces that Freecash is back on Google Play after what it calls a three-week review process, without detailing what changed.
  • June 17, 2026 Almedia announces the App Store reinstatement, claiming more than 80 million users and over $300 million paid out. Those are the company’s own, unaudited numbers.
  • August 12, 2026 Almedia launches the Link SDK, the in-game linking product that matches what Wordscapes players started seeing three weeks later, on September 3.

What this means for a Wordscapes player. Freecash is a real company that has paid real people for years; the reinstatements show that Apple and Google accept the app again today. But the misleading ads, the sensitive-data language in the policy and the store removals are from this year, not ancient history, and Almedia has not published what it changed to be reinstated beyond removing an affiliate and updating its policies. The same company runs the Wordscapes link. Nothing in that record says your 300 coins are at risk; it says that the cash side deserves the precautions listed in this guide, and that PeopleFun’s endorsement should not replace your own reading of the rules.

Freecash’s track record with players

Two pictures coexist. On Trustpilot, Freecash shows an “Excellent” score of about 4.6 out of 5 from more than 300,000 reviews; TechCrunch observed in April that such high ratings are not difficult to fake, without proving that Freecash’s were. On the Better Business Bureau profile, Freecash is not accredited and carries a “Pattern of Complaints” alert.

The complaints have a recognizable shape, which Finder’s independent review summarized in July 2026: accounts restricted right before a large withdrawal, high-value milestones that do not track while smaller rewards on the same offer are credited, support that answers through a bot or a ticket queue with no phone number, and no explanation of what the user supposedly did wrong. In the BBB responses I read, Freecash’s answer is consistent: its systems detected multiple accounts or another violation, the restriction is final, and the balance is forfeited. Nobody outside the company can check who is right in a given case.

The practical lesson is the one in the do’s and don’ts above: keep to one account, keep records, withdraw small amounts early instead of building a balance, and treat a first completed withdrawal as the real test of the feature, not the coins.

Linked but no 300 coins? Or Freecash progress is not tracking?

First identify which reward is missing. A delayed Wordscapes linking bonus and an unpaid Freecash milestone need different checks.

A screenshot showing credited coins is useful evidence of the linking bonus. To establish a successful cash payout, the record also needs the Wordscapes offer and the completed withdrawal. Keep account IDs, email addresses, identification documents and payment details out of public comments.

What information does Freecash collect? Will it ask for ID?

Freecash’s EU privacy policy describes registration and device data, reward activity, payment information and identity-verification data. It also describes optional installed-app access and, on Android, optional usage access for its PlayTime feature. Those platform-wide descriptions do not say which permissions the Wordscapes integration requires or which data PeopleFun transfers when you link. What is certain from Almedia’s SDK description is that eligibility, country and “user state” are evaluated on Almedia’s side, so some account and device signals do travel from the game to Almedia at linking time.

The policy treats survey profiling separately, with consent and an 18+ requirement. It should not be read as evidence that linking Wordscapes submits survey answers or every sensitive category Malwarebytes flagged in January. Read the policy and permission screens presented to your region, and read them again if the app asks for tracking or usage-access permissions afterwards.

Plan for an ID check if you intend to withdraw. The first withdrawal requires a government ID and a selfie through Veriff. PeopleFun’s linking FAQ does not list that check as a condition for receiving the in-game bonus. Linking, earning a balance and withdrawing it are three different stages, with three different levels of exposure.

Can I unlink or delete the connection later?

PeopleFun’s public FAQ does not explain an unlinking procedure, and I found no Freecash help page describing one for linked games. Freecash accounts can be closed through its support, but Freecash also states that opening a new account after deleting one violates its terms, which makes deletion a one-way door. Ask PeopleFun and Freecash how disconnecting would affect pending rewards and retained data before taking that step.

What is still undocumented (the grey areas)

These are the questions I could not answer from any published source as of September 8, 2026. If you have first-hand evidence, the comment box at the end is for you.

  1. The milestones and amounts. Which Wordscapes levels or actions pay, how much, with which deadlines, and whether a player already at level 4,000 gets the same targets as a player at level 40.
  2. Retroactivity. Whether progress made before linking counts, and whether the 300 coins can only be earned once per account or once per device.
  3. Multi-device play. Whether levels solved on a second device that shares your Wordscapes progress count toward the Freecash task, given Freecash’s “same device” rule.
  4. Permissions. Whether tracking or usage-access permissions are needed for the Wordscapes tasks to track, and what happens if you refuse them.
  5. The data exchanged. Which identifiers and game events pass between PeopleFun and Almedia, and for how long they are kept.
  6. Unlinking. Whether a link can be removed from either side, and what happens to pending rewards.
  7. The icon. Whether the Rewards entry can be hidden, and how players who paid to remove ads are treated.
  8. Countries. The actual eligibility list, and the first-withdrawal threshold that applies to each country.
  9. What Almedia changed. Beyond removing an affiliate and revising policies, what the store reviews of April and May required.
  10. A completed Wordscapes cashout. Not a single documented case yet, with version, country, platform, offer terms, elapsed time and a withdrawal that reached PayPal or a gift card.

Is it worth linking your Wordscapes account?

My view: the decision starts with your actual milestone list and the withdrawal requirements. The 300-coin bonus is easy to understand and easy to earn. The value of the cash side cannot be judged from the popup, and the record of the company paying it argues for patience.

If the offer rewards play you already enjoy, the tasks are clear and you accept the account rules and the identity check, you can weigh that reward against your time. If you would need to spend money, rush levels or install games you do not want, compare those costs with what you could actually withdraw after fees and deadlines. A headline maximum is a poor reason to change your playing habits, and 300 coins are a poor reason to break a household rule that can cost you everything you earned later.

If you prefer to keep Wordscapes separate from a rewards account, the feature is optional. There is no need to link simply because the icon appeared. I have not linked my own account yet, and I will say so here when I do.

Can I remove the Rewards icon? What if I paid to remove ads?

PeopleFun says the reminder may disappear after you leave the account unlinked for a while, and that linking may be available later if the option returns. Its FAQ does not document a manual hide switch or an exemption for ad-free purchasers. Some players who bought ad removal have reported seeing the promotion anyway in the r/wordscapes discussion. Those reports establish individual experiences, not a rule for every ad-free account. If it bothers you, send PeopleFun your platform, game version and feedback.

Have an offer or a completed cashout to document?
